Sayonara Koichi

It is not about us, it is about them.

In the heart of Barrio Gótico, amidst the cobblestone streets and vibrant art scene, Koichi was more than just a neighbor; he was a beacon of warmth and camaraderie. Though our paths initially crossed through mutual friends, Koichi quickly became an integral part of my life, a constant presence amid the ever-changing landscape of our beloved neighborhood.

Koichi's passion for jazz, manifested in his cherished collection of CDs, was a testament to his unwavering appreciation for the art form. In an era dominated by digital streams, Koichi's commitment to the tangible beauty of physical media was a reflection of his timeless spirit.

Together, we embarked on countless adventures through the winding alleys of Barrio Gótico, immersing ourselves in the rich tapestry of art and culture that defined the community. Whether it was exploring the latest exhibition at Fina's gallery or any expositions out there that would pop up in the secret world of art, indulging in the soulful melodies of Koichi's piano improvisations, every moment spent in his company was a treasure. He seemed to blend in every place we went.

As the years passed, our bond only grew stronger, fortified by shared laughter, the teasings, heartfelt conversations, and heading to the comfort familiarity of Santi's bar. Though time may have dimmed the lights of our favorite haunt, it has only illuminated the profound impact Koichi had on all who knew him.

In his absence, we are left with memories that shimmer like distant stars, guiding us through the darkness of grief and reminding us of the enduring power of friendship. Koichi may no longer walk among us, but his spirit lives on in the echoes of jazz melodies and the vibrant colors of the art he so dearly loved.

Rest in peace, dear friend. Your legacy will forever be etched in the fabric of our lives, a timeless reminder of the beauty that exists in every note, every brushstroke, and every shared moment of joy.

A big fan of calçotada. We would gather in his place and bring something for a Calçotada.Calçotada is a traditional Catalan gastronomic event celebrated primarily in Catalonia, Spain, typically during the winter months, from January to March. It's a festive gathering centered around the consumption of calçots, a type of green onion unique to the region, prepared in a particular way.
