Having a host this fall
Coming to Chicago in the fall of this year has brought new perspectives, experiences, and adventures. It would not be possible to make things happen without the support of my host Sylvia. She has been supportive and appreciative of my presence here. Her giving spirit and her time have made it easier to jump-start a new chapter of my life. A home with love is soothing to the wounds of life. Sylvia made me feel at home and that makes me more motivated and treasure my stay here. Knowing Sylvia for a long time is a big plus and an invitation to stay with her and try things out here is an opportunity to live and get a new perspective. Although living with the host is quite different. The mindset of making compromise and making trade offs is always part. Also, I got the opportunity to meet her sibling Xiaopeng and parts of her family. Overall, it is all positive and consider it a home with love.
I met Sylvia through my sister Tess in Barcelona and their many visits here gave us a chance to know each other and do things together such as going for a bike ride along the coastline of Maresme, heading up the hill of Montjuic park, doing a few stages of Camino together — Irún to Donostía — Zumaia to Zarauts. The following year, they came with their friends and we did — Roncesvalles to Pamplona. We also did a number of bike tour together in the area of Girona. Also, kayaking in Sitges. Yes, we indeed have lots in common together — we love the outdoors.
