Nestled within the rugged terrain lies the deceptive beauty of Sierra National Park. At first glance, its arid landscape may not seem particularly inviting, but delve deeper into the nooks and crannies of its gorges, and you'll discover a veritable paradise. Here, emerald-green waters meander through the landscape, a pure delight to behold. The sight of vultures soaring overhead only adds to the park's mystique. It's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds, from avid hikers to intrepid rock climbers and canyoneers, as well as those who simply relish a leisurely stroll amidst the splendor of nature.
Our journey to Sierra National Park began in 2014 as a spontaneous weekend getaway, but it quickly evolved into an annual tradition for our group. Despite the perceived risks associated with canyoning, our first experience proved both exhilarating and safe, thanks to the guidance of our experienced mountaineer friends, Frederic and Roser. Their expertise not only ensured our safety but also enhanced our enjoyment of each excursion. Thus, what began as a one-time adventure soon became a cherished summer ritual, eagerly anticipated by all.
Our annual pilgrimage coincides with the week of San Joan Day or the Summer Solstice, marking not only the onset of summer but also a time for us to reconnect with one another and reflect on the passage of time. Though the specter of the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to forgo our gathering temporarily, our resolve to continue our tradition remained steadfast. Despite the challenges, we are grateful for our continued good health and the opportunity to revel in the splendor of Sierra de Guara alongside dear friends.
In the face of adversity, our shared passion for exploration and camaraderie has only grown stronger, a testament to the enduring bond forged amidst the breathtaking beauty of Sierra National Park.
