In the heart of summer, the vibrant energy of northern Spain converges upon the enchanting shores of San Sebastián. Known locally as Donostía, this coastal gem becomes the pulsating epicenter of all things summer.

Having traversed the coastal line heading to the next town or stage, Oreo by bike and on foot during the Camino del Norte, I've felt the allure of Donostía beckoning me back time and again. I recall one occasion, regrettably missing the fervor of their Fiesta Mayor, just before the grand celebrations of Bilbao. Yet, even outside of such festivities, the city teems with life, offering a plethora of experiences to indulge in.

Donostía possesses an innate charm that captivates the vibrant spirit of summer, making it a place one could easily spend a month without the slightest trace of boredom. The vibrant tapestry of events and activities woven into its fabric ensures there's never a dull moment. It is hard to leave the beach except for a time to go for tapas in the old town or places nearby. You can go cycling back and forth and enjoy watching people. It stands tall as my top pick in Northern Spain, primarily for its unmatched liveliness during the summer months.

Ah, the kaleidoscope of colors that paint the canvas of summertime here. And then, there's the majestic sweep of La Concha beach, a sight to behold. Ordinarily, I'm not one to linger amidst crowded beaches, yet there's an inexplicable allure that draws me in here. It's as though every individual finds their own slice of paradise, be it within a tight-knit group or amidst the embrace of family.

In Donostía, summer isn't merely a season—it's a symphony of experiences, an invitation to revel in the joy of life itself. And amidst the laughter, the music, and the salty sea breeze, one can't help but feel the magic that permeates every corner of this coastal haven
