El Masnou

After living in Barcelona for many years, I had the opportunity to live along the coastline of Maresme just outside Barcelona — El Masnou.

Moving to El Masnou made me experience living along the coast of Maresme. I frequented Montgat Nord during the summer, because of its quietness and less crowded than Barcelona. It’s the town before El Masnou.

Moving here changed the perspective and the atmosphere. Gone were the overcrowded areas like Plaza España, Plaza Catalunya. and it seemed that no matter where you go in Barcelona, you would run into tourists and that’s the whole year. Here in El Masnou, it was more laid back and . It is quieter and less crowded. It is one of the quietest areas and easily accessible to the city, just 45 minutes away by train. A change of scene is good for the mind. Many times, we get stuck with the same for a lifetime and it becomes a comfort zone and probably it becomse a burial ground. As for me, it is a matter of circumstance that I moved away from the city of Barcelona and it brought a different perspective and opportunities for changes.

The town exudes a tranquil atmosphere, offering visitors an authentic Catalonian experience away from the typical tourist crowds. It is truly a place with a Mediterranean flare to it. The view of the ocean early in the morning while preparing for breakfast and then, you could view the sunset on the terrace. It made me appreciate the beauty of living along the coastline.

Working in teh center wasn’t a problem. I would wake up at 5:00 AM to get to the train station
