Falls, Beach and Canyon
Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss in the morning. Two magnificent waterfalls located along the southern coast of Iceland. Easy seen and access driving along the ring road and parking space made our day and yet, we got the black beach of Reynisfjara and the canyon ahead of us. In spite of the gloomy weather, the green surroundings made up for everything.
Golden Circle
The Golden Circle showcases some of Iceland's most iconic natural wonders, allowing you to witness the power of geothermal activity, the beauty of waterfalls, and the unique geological formations that make Iceland a captivating destination.
First Day — Blue Lagoon
What a better way to start the exploration of the ring in Iceland than soaking the geothermal water of Blue Lagoon. This soothing place made us relax after a 6 hour and half flight from ORD. It was a place to get acquainted to each other. A famous geothermal spa and located in the Reykjanes Peninsula, close to the airport. The Blue Lagoon offers mineral-rich, milky-blue waters believed to have health benefits. Facilities include changing rooms, saunas, and a relaxation area. We enjoyed the silica mud mask and the drink that came with it. The surrounding volcanic landscape is captivating. The entrance fee covered a towel, mask treatment, and a drink. It was a fantastic start to our Icelandic adventure.
Taking a few days in Lake Bled
When traveling by yourself, flexibility comes easier. Decision is taken at your own pace making it more convenient to move around.
Venice
Venice captivates visitors with its timeless allure, a city suspended between water and sky, where meandering canals replace streets, and historic architecture rises gracefully from the lagoon. The unique charm of Venice lies in its romantic ambiance, reflected in the graceful gondolas gliding through narrow waterways, the intricate beauty of centuries-old bridges, and the enchanting interplay of light on the facades of historic buildings. The city's rich cultural heritage, manifested in iconic landmarks like St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace, adds to its allure. Venice's ability to transport visitors to a world of poetic beauty, where every corner reveals a piece of history, creates an enduring fascination that lingers in the hearts of those who wander its labyrinthine streets.
Black Forest
Visiting a place where friends live opens new perspective what is it like to live in places. This time, Xenia and Sina showed me around a bit of Stuttgart and then, we spent time together in Baden Baden.
Stroll around Lake Bled
Hanging around Lake Bled and embracing a leisurely pace is a delightful way to experience the tranquil charm of this Slovenian paradise. The inviting lakeside expanse, framed by the Julian Alps, creates the perfect backdrop for a laid-back day. As you find a comfortable spot along the shoreline, the mesmerizing views of the emerald lake and Bled Castle on the horizon invite a sense of relaxation. Allow yourself to get lazy, perhaps lounging on the grass or a lakeside bench, as swans gracefully glide by. The gentle rustle of leaves overhead and the occasional ripple of the water provide a soothing soundtrack to your lazy day by the lake. Consider bringing a book, a picnic, or simply bask in the unhurried atmosphere of this idyllic setting. Whether it's an afternoon nap under the shade of a tree or a quiet moment to watch the sun dip below the mountains, hanging around Lake Bled invites a blissful indulgence in the art of doing nothing amidst nature's tranquil embrace.
