Enjoying the Present Moment

What a spectacular entrance as we kick off the summer! The long flight delay at King Salmon airport led us to witness the dramatic road ride full of colors of the midnight sun in the background of Alaskan range as we approached Denali National Park. When the midnight sun was showing his spectacle, my traveling partners were busy taking pictures and in the back seat, I was watching the majestic colors changing as we drove to our destination past midnight. I didn’t have to raise my mobile phone or a camera to snap pictures, for I didn’t want to lose the moment. Perhaps if I was alone, I would consider taking pictures, but this wan’t the moment. There are times in the journey when you are caught by surprise by what’s going on that it is best to enjoy the moment and not grab the camera. I feel that way when something is happening and that every minute can change things. I think we worry too much of losing the scene that we want to grab that camera right away. I’m not desperate to show evidence that I’ve seen this or done that. I feel that this scene is recorded in my mind.
