Taking Slovenian Trains
After staying in Trieste for a few days, the close proximity to the Slovenian border drew me to venture to Karst Plateau extends into Slovenia. This region is known for its unique limestone formations, underground rivers, and extensive cave systems, including the famous Postojna Cave and Škocjan Caves, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
After getting used to Italy’s train station — hearing those announcements made me feel that I was in marketplace and the chaotic atmosphere that makes Italy unique. Trieste train station is quiet and there is nothing much going on there, however getting to Slovenian border had also changed the atmosphere, the change to a cleaner and quieter train and a change of landscape. Located in southwester border of Trieste and part of Central Europe, Slovenia is known for its picturesque landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. The area close to Trieste, Italy, which is near Slovenia's southwestern border, offers a blend of Slovenian and Italian influences.
It is quite interesting when you get to Postojna caves and Llubjana, the capital, it is crowded, but taking the trains to get these places, it is quiet and you don’t get to see a lot of passengers.
