No matter where we travel, climate change is reshaping the landscapes. In Iceland, volcanic eruptions have disrupted flights, tourism, and the weather over the years. Yet, this summer set a new record for visitors—and we were part of it. Although we arrived during the first week of the summer season, we quickly realized we weren’t alone, though tourism was still picking up. Traveling here with Sylvia, Sharon, and John felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Sharing this journey with friends and taking an RV together for the first time was a risk, as we weren’t sure how we’d handle certain situations. But that’s part of the adventure.
Climate change is forcing us to rethink how we travel, as global warming continues to alter ecosystems around the world. Iceland’s active volcanoes are a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the environment—eruptions could happen at any time. That’s why when the opportunity to travel arises, I rarely hesitate. Time is precious. There’s no perfect moment, and this year, I had the incredible chance to visit Iceland with friends.
Deep down, we don't know when we’ll be back. As responsible travelers, we must reduce our environmental footprint in every way possible. This trip allowed us to drive the iconic Ring Road and enjoy Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes on our first RV adventure together. Every moment counts. We won’t take this beautiful place for granted, and who knows when we’ll be back.
